About the Department
The Department of Commerce was established in 1997 with the Bachelor of Commerce and PG Program was introduce in 2004 with the intension of upgrading the qualification of the rural students. The Department of Commerce was the pioneer in the institution to introduce Research Program M.Phil., and Ph.D., during the year 2014. The position of the department has hoisted to the level of research department and named as PG and Research Department of Commerce in the year 2014. There are 10 Faculty members dedicatedly work in the department including 4 Ph.D., Doctorate Members.
Activities of Department
- The department organizes seminars, workshops, conferences at national and international levels every year.
- The department trains the students technically with the trainers from outside in the form of certificate courses every year.
- The department arranges for Industrial Visits to the industries for enhancing the industrial experience.
- Certificate programmes, Value Added programmes and Life skill programmes are offered apart from the Academic Curriculam.
Course Features
- The course offers accounting skills and expertise knowledge to the students.
- The course provides class handling experience through demo classes, handled by the students.
- The course creates interest in research field to the students.
Achievements
- Attained 4th rank in the University level Exams during 2014.
- Achieved 1st Price in Drawing Competition conducted at the University level and other events.
- Alumni of the department are working in various government sectors like Uniform Services, Revenue Departments and so on.
- Faculty members regularly contribute their interest for the research by publishing research articles at various fields.
